Upright Rows & Pec Deck Rear Delt Laterals

Upright Rows

Upright Rows directly works the deltoids, trapezius, and biceps, and places secondary emphasis on the forearm, sacrospinalis, and abdominal muscles.

Upright Rows
  • Start with your feet slightly spread. Keep your back straight.

  • Take an overhand grip on the barbell with your hands slightly more than shoulder width apart and resting on your thighs.

  • Inhale and pull the barbell upward close to your body until it reaches your chin, raising your elbows as high as possible.

Pec Deck Rear Delt Laterals

Pec Deck Rear Delt Laterals works the deltoids, particularly the posterior portion, the infraspinatus, and the teres minor. At the end of the movement when you pinch the scapulae together, it also works the trapezius and the rhomboids.

Pec Deck Rear Delt Laterals
  • Start sitting in a peck deck machine, facing toward its back support, with your arms stretched out grasping the handles, palms forward.

  • Inhale and force your elbows to the rear, pressing your scapulae together at the end of the movement, keeping your arms slightly bent throughout.

  • Exhale as you complete the movement.
